Adhesive: A product that helps bond the turf seams/ inserts and the turf itself to the base.

Backing: A material which forms the back of the grass turf in order to secure it.

Compaction: The increase in something’s density. Usually field materials such as artificial turf are thoroughly compact to prevent settlement where the grass will be laid.

Denier: A measurement unit that calculates the linear mass density of fibres.

Extrusion: This is the act of turning liquid plastic into sold fibres via a fixed cross profile which is designed to create each individual turf blade.

Fibre: This is the name for each individual blade of artificial grass.

Gauge: The gauge is the difference between each row of stitches.

Infill: The act of adding sand or rubber into the turf between the fibre blades to cushion it.

Luster: The quality of shine that is achieved by light reflections.

Monofilament: This is a type of thread that is used.

Nylon: A type of fibre that is resilient because it can absorb at least 3% of its body weight.

Permeable: Something that allows liquids and/or gas’ to travel through it.

Synthetic: An item that has been made by man and has not occurred naturally from the environment.

Zeolite Max: A zeolite material is a nontoxic negatively charged granule that helps to neutralise any odours caused by the release of ammonia and only has to be applied on top of the turf once.
