Hay fever. They might only be two words, but they pack a pretty heavy punch. If you don’t know what we’re talking about then you’re lucky, because you’re not one of the 30 million people that suffer from hay fever in the UK alone. Hay fever is an allergy to pollen, the most common cause being grass pollen, with symptoms including runny, itchy or blocked nose, frequent sneezing, itchy, watery eyes and in some cases swollen face and eyes. Some people also find their sinuses and throat are affected. Not very pleasant at all!
Hay fever can be a dreadful thing to have and what makes it worse is the timing of it. The grass pollen season is from May to July – a time when you should be outside enjoying the warm weather. It’s terribly depressing to find yourself cooped up indoors, not even able to enjoy the comfort of your own garden. But we’ve had a thought; our artificial grass mimics the look and feel of natural grass, but has none of the natural make up. Installing artificial grass in your garden could save your summer and save you a fortune in tissues and antihistamines.
It’s impossible to avoid pollen completely, but if you could avoid it in your own back yard, we think that would be great. Artificial grass doesn’t need to be tended to, cut or weeded – things that hay fever sufferers are told to avoid – so it seems like a brilliant idea to us!
If you’re a hay fever sufferer now is the time to switch your natural lawn over to artificial grass. Grass pollen season is only two months away but weeds tend to pollinate from early spring to early autumn i.e. now, so there’s no time to waste. Being stuck indoors now the weather is starting to warm up seems like a punishment – artificial grass can set you free!
